Komodo dragon
The Komodo dragon is the largest species of monitor lizard, native to Indonesia. It can grow up to 10 feet long and weigh over 150 pounds. Equipped with strong limbs, sharp claws, and a powerful tail, it is an efficient predator. Its long, forked tongue helps detect scents, guiding it to prey like deer, boars, and smaller animals. The Komodo dragon's saliva contains bacteria and possibly venom, aiding in subduing prey. Despite its formidable size and hunting ability, it often scavenges carcasses. It plays a vital role in its ecosystem as both predator and scavenger.
