komi
Komi is a rule used in the game of Go to balance the advantage of playing first. Since the player who makes the first move (Black) naturally has a slight advantage, white is awarded a fixed number of points—called "komi"—at the end of the game to offset this. Typically, komi is around 6.5 or 7.5 points, with the half-point preventing a tie. This ensures the game is more fair and that winning is determined by skill rather than who moves first.
