Knowledge Gap Theory

Knowledge Gap Theory suggests that as new information becomes available, those with higher socioeconomic status and better access to resources tend to acquire it faster than others. This leads to an increasing gap in knowledge between different social groups over time. Essentially, advancements in communication and education can unintentionally widen disparities, because not everyone has equal opportunity or ability to benefit from new information. The theory highlights the importance of addressing inequalities to ensure that all communities can access and understand new knowledge, promoting more equitable social development.
