Knight Bachelor

A Knight Bachelor is a formal title awarded in the United Kingdom and some Commonwealth countries to a man who has been recognized for significant contributions to public life, such as in arts, sciences, charity, or public service. It is the oldest and most basic form of knighthood, without any associated peerage or noble titles. Recipients can use the honorific "Sir" before their first name. Unlike other specific orders of knighthood, a Knight Bachelor's recognition is given individually and does not include membership in an organized order.
