
Kleiber's Law
Kleiber's Law observes that an animal's metabolic rate (the energy it uses) scales with its body mass to the 3/4 power. In simpler terms, larger animals like elephants use energy more efficiently per unit of body weight than smaller animals like mice. For example, a mouse's metabolism is proportionally much higher than that of a whale. This relationship helps explain differences in activity and life processes across species, reflecting how biological systems are organized efficiently at different sizes.
