Kirschner wires
Kirschner wires, or K-wires, are thin, stiff metal pins used by doctors to hold broken bones or fractured joints in the correct position while healing. They are often inserted through the skin into the bone with a simple procedure, sometimes temporarily or permanently. K-wires provide stability during recovery and are commonly used in hand, wrist, and foot injuries. They are usually removed once healing is sufficient. These wires are a reliable and minimally invasive option to help bones recover properly, restoring function and preventing deformity.
