Kirituhi

Kirituhi is a traditional Maori tattoo style from New Zealand, characterized by intricate, flowing patterns often inspired by nature and cultural symbols. Unlike moko, which is a permanent, deeply traditional facial tattoo reserved for Māori men and women of high status, kirituhi is a more temporary or semi-permanent design that can be applied to anyone, regardless of ethnicity. It shares similar aesthetic elements but doesn't carry the same cultural significance. Modern kirituhi can be used as a way to honor Māori culture, express identity, or appreciate the artistry without the cultural restrictions associated with moko.
