Kinnauri language
Kinnauri is a Tibetic language spoken primarily in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It belongs to the Tibeto-Burman language family and has several dialects. Kinnauri serves as a vital part of local cultural identity and is used in daily life, traditional rituals, and storytelling. Although it shares roots with other Himalayan languages, it maintains distinct phonetic and grammatical features. Due to geographic isolation, Kinnauri has retained many ancient linguistic elements, but it faces challenges from Hindi and English, which influence younger speakers and education. Efforts are ongoing to preserve and promote its use within the community.
