King Saul

King Saul was the first monarch of Israel, anointed by the prophet Samuel in the Old Testament. He united the tribes of Israel against external threats, notably the Philistines. Saul began his reign with promise but gradually fell out of favor with God due to his disobedience and erratic behavior. His jealousy of David, a future king, led to a tragic rivalry. Saul's reign ended in turmoil and tragedy, culminating in his death in battle.
