King Louis XVI (France)

King Louis XVI was the last king of France before the French Revolution. He ruled from 1774 until his execution in 1793. His reign faced numerous challenges, including financial troubles, widespread poverty, and dissatisfaction with absolute monarchy. Louis attempted reforms but was met with resistance, and his indecisiveness contributed to the revolution. In 1789, the Estates-General met, which led to the formation of the National Assembly and the rise of revolutionary fervor. Ultimately, Louis XVI was arrested, tried for treason, and executed by guillotine, marking a significant turning point in French history and the end of monarchy in France.
