King Louis XVI was the last king of France before the monarchy was abolished during the French Revolution. ruling from 1774 to 1792, he inherited a country facing financial crisis, social inequality, and widespread discontent. Despite efforts at reform, his indecisiveness and inability to address citizens' grievances led to rising unrest. His failure to effectively manage these issues contributed to revolutionary momentum, eventually leading to his execution by guillotine in 1793. Louis XVI's reign is often seen as a symbol of the decline of absolute monarchy in France and the rise of democratic ideals.
