Kinetoscope

The Kinetoscope is an early device for viewing moving images, invented in the late 19th century. It consists of a cabinet with a peephole through which a person looks to see a loop of film that rapidly moves past a light source, creating the illusion of motion. The Kinetoscope was designed for individual viewing and marked an important step in the development of cinema. It operates using a continuous film loop and a series of mechanical parts to synchronize the film’s movement with the light, providing a primitive but influential introduction to motion picture technology.
