Kindertransport

The Kindertransport was a rescue effort during the late 1930s and early 1940s that saved thousands of Jewish children from Nazi-occupied Germany and Austria. Organized mainly by British Jewish and humanitarian groups, it involved bringing children to the United Kingdom where they could escape persecution. The children, many orphaned or separated from their families, were placed in foster homes, hostels, or with families across Britain. The operation aimed to protect vulnerable youngsters from the Holocaust, offering them safety and a new beginning, though many faced trauma and uncertainty after the war ended.
