Kimura disease

Kimura disease is a rare, chronic inflammatory condition mostly affecting the head and neck areas, particularly in Asian men. It causes painless swelling of the lymph nodes and tissues, often accompanied by elevated levels of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) and increased IgE antibodies, indicating an immune response. The exact cause is unknown, but it's believed to involve abnormal immune activity. Symptoms often include swelling, skin changes, and sometimes pain. Treatment typically involves surgery or corticosteroids to reduce inflammation. While it's not contagious or cancerous, it can persist or recur, requiring ongoing management.
