Kidney Dialysis in Children
Kidney dialysis is a medical treatment used for children whose kidneys are not functioning well. The kidneys normally filter waste and excess fluid from the blood, but when they fail, dialysis takes over this role. There are two main types: hemodialysis, which cleans the blood using a machine, and peritoneal dialysis, which uses the lining of the abdomen to filter waste. Dialysis helps maintain a child's overall health by removing toxins and balancing electrolytes. While it can be time-consuming, it allows children to lead more manageable lives until a kidney transplant or improvement in kidney function is possible.
