Khunjerab Pass
Khunjerab Pass is a high mountain crossing located at approximately 4,600 meters (15,000 feet) above sea level on the China-Pakistan border. It serves as a key trade and travel route, connecting the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan with China's Xinjiang province. Surrounded by rugged mountains, it is part of the Karakoram Range and is one of the highest paved international borders in the world. The pass is vital for economic trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two countries. Opening in 1986, it also marks a privileged link in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
