Khitan culture

The Khitan were a nomadic people originating from northeastern Asia, known for establishing the Liao Dynasty (907–1125) in northern China. They developed a sophisticated culture that combined nomadic traditions with Chinese administrative practices, including their own script and architecture. The Khitan society valued craftsmanship, horseback riding, and military skill. Their influence extended through trade, diplomacy, and warfare, shaping regional politics. Despite assimilation and decline after the Liao Dynasty, their cultural contributions are recognized for influencing later nomadic and Chinese societies.
