Khitan
The Khitan were a nomadic people from Northeast Asia who established the Khitan Empire in the 4th century, reaching its height in the 10th century. They founded the Liao Dynasty (907–1125) in parts of modern China and Mongolia, influencing regional politics, culture, and trade. Known for their sophisticated horseback riding, military skills, and unique scripts, the Khitan played a significant role in East Asian history. Their culture blended indigenous traditions with influences from China and other neighboring civilizations, leaving enduring marks through art, inscriptions, and historical records.
