Khilafat President
A Khilafat President was a leader appointed by Indian Muslim leaders during the Khilafat Movement in the early 20th century. This movement aimed to protect the Ottoman Caliphate (the Islamic spiritual and political authority based in Turkey) after World War I, when it was threatened by European powers. The Khilafat President helped organize and motivate Muslims in India to support the Caliphate’s cause, fostering unity and political activism. The role was symbolic of Muslim solidarity and their desire to defend the Caliphate’s sovereignty.
