Kharosthi script

Kharosthi is an ancient script used in the northwestern regions of India and Central Asia from around the 3rd century BCE to the 3rd century CE. It was primarily employed for writing Gandharan, a form of Sanskrit, and was distinctive for its right-to-left direction and unique character shapes. Kharosthi played a key role in trade, inscriptions, and Buddhist texts, especially under the influence of the Gandharan civilization. Over time, it was replaced by other scripts like Brahmi, but its inscriptions provide valuable insights into early Indian and Central Asian history and culture.
