Khalsa movement
The Khalsa movement, initiated by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699, is a core aspect of Sikh tradition. It established the Khalsa as a collective body of committed Sikhs dedicated to spiritual discipline, equality, and social justice. Members of the Khalsa follow specific vows, wear distinctive articles of faith (like the turban and Kirpan), and uphold principles of courage, honesty, and compassion. The movement aimed to strengthen Sikh identity, defend righteousness, and promote community service, shaping Sikh culture and values to this day.
