Keying techniques

Keying techniques are methods used in video production to replace a specific background, often a solid color like green or blue, with a different image or scene. This process involves filming subjects against a uniform backdrop and then digitally isolating that color to make it transparent. The background is then swapped out with the desired visuals, creating the illusion that the subject is in a different environment. Common keying techniques include chroma keying, luma keying, and difference keying, each suitable for different lighting conditions and footage types. These techniques are essential in filmmaking, TV production, and virtual sets.
