Keratosis

Keratosis refers to a skin condition where the skin becomes thick and rough due to an overgrowth of keratin, a protein found in skin, hair, and nails. There are different types, such as actinic keratosis, which can develop from sun damage, and seborrheic keratosis, which is a benign growth that appears with age. While most keratoses are harmless, some can signal underlying issues or may have the potential to become cancerous, especially actinic keratosis. It’s advisable to consult a dermatologist for evaluation and potential treatment if changes in the skin are noticed.
