Keratometry

Keratometry is a measurement of the curvature of the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye. It helps determine how steep or flat the cornea is, which is important for fitting contact lenses, diagnosing eye conditions, and planning surgeries like cataract removal or LASIK. The process involves using a special device called a keratometer that projects light onto the cornea and measures how it reflects back. These measurements are expressed in diopters, a unit that describes the cornea's refractive power. Accurate keratometry ensures proper vision correction and optimal eye health management.
