Kelpies
Kelpies are mythological water spirits from Scottish folklore, often depicted as shape-shifting horses or aquatic creatures. They are said to inhabit lochs and rivers, capable of appearing as beautiful horses that lure people—especially children or travelers—into the water. Once caught, they drag their victims underwater, leading to drowning. The legend serves as a warning about the dangers of swamps and strong currents. Today, the Kelpies are also iconic sculptures in Scotland—massive horse-head structures symbolizing strength and resilience, inspired by these stories and representing local industrial heritage.
