Keloids
Keloids are raised scars that form when the body overproduces collagen during the healing process after an injury or surgery. Unlike regular scars, keloids extend beyond the original wound and can appear thick, shiny, and sometimes itchy or painful. They can develop anywhere on the body but are more common on areas like the chest and shoulders. Keloids are generally harmless but can be a cosmetic concern. Treatments include corticosteroid injections, laser therapy, and, in some cases, surgery, although they may return after treatment.
