Kaurna Language

The Kaurna language is the traditional language of the Kaurna people, the Indigenous inhabitants of the Adelaide Plains in South Australia. Like many Aboriginal languages, it is part of the language and cultural identity of the Kaurna community. Although it faced decline due to colonization and language loss, revitalization efforts have helped revive its use through language programs, resources, and cultural initiatives. Learning Kaurna helps preserve cultural heritage, promotes understanding, and honors the rich history of the Kaurna people. Today, it remains an important symbol of Indigenous identity and connection to the land.
