Katz ADL
The Katz ADL (Activities of Daily Living) scale measures an individual's ability to perform basic everyday tasks essential for independent living, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring (e.g., moving from bed to chair), continence, and feeding oneself. It helps healthcare providers assess a person’s level of independence or need for assistance, guiding necessary support or interventions. A higher score indicates greater independence, while a lower score suggests more dependence on others for daily self-care activities.
