Katipunan
The Katipunan, officially known as the Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (Supreme and Most Distinguished Council of the Children of the Nation), was a secret Filipino society founded in 1892 that aimed to gain independence from Spanish rule. It organized Filipinos into a revolutionary movement through clandestine meetings, distributing materials, and planning uprisings. The Katipunan played a crucial role in the Philippine Revolution of 1896, mobilizing Filipinos to fight for sovereignty. Its activities helped inspire national unity and laid the groundwork for the eventual establishment of the independent Philippine Republic.
