Katherine Blodgett

Katherine Blodgett was a pioneering scientist and engineer known for developing non-reflective glass coatings. Working at GE in the 1930s and 1940s, she created a special layer of material that makes glass transparent to light without reflecting it, greatly improving optical devices like cameras and microscopes. She was the first woman to earn a Ph.D in physics from Cambridge and became the first woman elected to the American Physical Society. Her work significantly advanced materials science and optical technology, and she broke gender barriers in science during her career.
