Kate’s Law

Kate’s Law is legislation aimed at strengthening penalties for individuals who have previously been convicted of serious crimes and are caught re-entering the United States illegally. Named after Kate Steinle, who was tragically killed in a case linked to an undocumented immigrant with a criminal history, the law seeks to deter repeat offenses by increasing prison sentences for convicted felons found back in the country illegally. It emphasizes the importance of enforcing immigration laws and prioritizing public safety by holding repeat offenders accountable and discouraging illegal re-entry.
