Karo language

Karo is a language spoken by the Karo people in southwestern Ethiopia, primarily in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region. It belongs to the Nilo-Saharan language family and features a complex system of tone and click sounds, similar to some neighboring languages. The language has several dialects and plays a vital role in preserving the cultural identity of the Karo community. Despite pressures from dominant languages like Amharic, efforts are underway to document and promote Karo language and traditions, emphasizing the importance of linguistic diversity and cultural heritage.
