Karo art
Karo art is a traditional Ethiopian craft that involves creating intricate, colorful designs on fabric, pottery, or walls using a wax-resist dyeing technique called “batik.” Artists draw detailed patterns with wax, then dye the material; the wax resists the dye, preserving the original color. This process is repeated with multiple dyes to produce complex, vibrant images often inspired by religious, cultural, or natural themes. Karo art reflects Ethiopia’s rich heritage, requiring skill and precision, and is valued for its aesthetic appeal and cultural significance.
