Karl Friderichsen (1883–1969) was a Danish physician renowned for his work in infectious diseases and pathology. He made significant contributions to understanding bacterial infections, especially meningococcal disease, which can cause meningitis. His studies helped improve diagnosis and treatment of bacterial infections, saving many lives. Friderichsen is also known for describing a severe bacterial infection known as "Friderichsen syndrome," characterized by adrenal gland failure, widespread blood clotting, and bleeding. His research advanced medical knowledge of infectious diseases, emphasizing the importance of early detection and intervention to prevent serious complications.
