Karisoke Research Center

The Karisoke Research Center, founded in 1967 by Dian Fossey, is a wildlife research facility located in Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park. It is dedicated to studying and protecting mountain gorillas and their habitats. The center conducts scientific research on gorilla behavior, ecology, and conservation strategies, while also working to prevent poaching and habitat destruction. By fostering local community involvement and awareness, Karisoke aims to ensure the survival of these endangered primates, contributing valuable knowledge to global conservation efforts and helping to maintain the biodiversity of the region.
