Karen Carpenter was an American singer and drummer, best known as the lead vocalist of the popular 1970s duo The Carpenters, alongside her brother Richard. Renowned for her warm, rich voice and precise drumming, she achieved great success with hits like "Close to You" and "We've Only Just Begun." Tragically, Karen struggled with an eating disorder, which contributed to her early death at age 32 in 1983. She is remembered for her musical talent and influence on pop and adult contemporary music, as well as her courage in raising awareness about health issues related to eating disorders.
