Karekin I (Catholicos)

Karekin I was a prominent religious leader in the Armenian Apostolic Church, serving as Catholicos, the highest authority in the church, from 1995 to 1999. He played a key role in promoting spiritual renewal, interfaith dialogue, and strengthening the church’s role within Armenia and the global Armenian community. Known for his scholarly work and commitment to peace, Karekin I also contributed to preserving Armenian cultural and religious traditions during a period of change and challenges in the region. His leadership helped unify and inspire Armenian Christians worldwide.
