Kanuni

Kanuni refers to a set of legal codes and laws established by the Ottoman Empire during the 16th century, primarily under the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. These laws aimed to standardize and improve governance across the empire, covering areas such as taxation, land ownership, and criminal justice. The term "Kanun" itself means "law" in Arabic and Turkish. The Kanuni provided a framework that helped to unify diverse populations and maintain order, promoting a degree of stability and development within the empire's vast territories.
