Kamehameha III

Kamehameha III, also known as Kauikeaouli, was the king of Hawaii from 1825 to 1854. He is known for modernizing the islands by establishing a written constitution, promoting education, and reducing foreign influence. He helped transition Hawaii from a traditional monarchy to a more structured, constitutional government and worked to preserve Hawaiian sovereignty amidst increasing outside interference. His leadership laid the groundwork for Hawaii's legal and political systems and aimed to maintain Hawaiian culture and independence during a period of significant change.
