The Kamakura Buddha, or the Great Buddha of Kamakura, is a large bronze statue located in Kamakura, Japan. Standing approximately 13.35 meters (43.8 feet) tall and weighing around 93 tons, it represents Amida Buddha, symbolizing compassion and enlightenment. Constructed in the 13th century during the Kamakura period, the statue reflects Zen Buddhist ideals and Japanese craftsmanship. Originally housed in a wooden temple, the structure was destroyed by waves in the 15th century, leaving the statue outdoors. Today, it is an iconic cultural and religious symbol, attracting visitors and pilgrims alike.
