Kallmann Syndrome

Kallmann Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by delayed or absent puberty and an impaired sense of smell. It occurs when specific brain cells that regulate hormone release, especially those involving reproductive hormones, don’t develop or function properly. This results in low or absent levels of sex hormones like testosterone and estrogen, leading to symptoms such as lack of facial and body hair, small testes or ovaries, and delayed growth. The condition is often inherited and can be managed with hormone therapy to develop secondary sexual characteristics and improve overall health.
