KADU (Kenya African Democratic Union)
KADU, or Kenya African Democratic Union, was a political party in Kenya founded in 1960 by Ronald Ngala. It emerged as a rival to the dominant Kenya African National Union (KANU) and aimed to protect the interests of minority communities, particularly coastal and central regions. KADU promoted a federalist approach, advocating for regional autonomy and safeguarding cultural identities, contrasting with KANU's push for a centralized government. Though it played a significant role in Kenya's journey to independence, KADU eventually merged with KANU in 1964 to create a unified government, helping shape the nation's early political landscape.
