Kabul International Security Assistance Force (ISAF)
The Kabul International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was a NATO-led mission established in 2001 to help stabilize Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban. Its primary goal was to provide security, support reconstruction, and assist the Afghan government in establishing stable governance and security institutions. Operating in Kabul and across Afghanistan, ISAF coordinated efforts among international forces and Afghan authorities to combat insurgency, train Afghan security forces, and promote peace. The mission concluded in December 2014, transitioning responsibilities to Afghan forces, with NATO continuing to support Afghanistan in various capacities.
