K-wire
A K-wire, also known as a Kirschner wire, is a thin, flexible metal pin used by surgeons to stabilize broken bones or align bone fragments during healing. It is inserted through the skin and into the bone to hold the pieces in the correct position, providing support while the bone heals naturally. K-wires are often used in hand, wrist, or foot surgeries and can be temporarily or permanently left in place, depending on the injury. They are chosen for their strength, small size, and ease of use in precise bone alignment procedures.
