Justice Verma Commission

The Justice Verma Commission was a committee set up by the Indian government in 2013, led by Justice J.S. Verma, to review and suggest reforms to laws related to sexual offences and crimes against women after the horrific Delhi gang-rape incident. Its goal was to strengthen legal protections, improve how crimes are investigated, and ensure justice for victims. The commission examined existing laws, recommended stricter punishments, and aimed to create a safer environment for women and girls through more effective legal remedies and societal awareness.
