Jurchen People
The Jurchen people were a Tungusic-speaking ethnic group from northeastern China, known for establishing the Jin Dynasty (1115–1234). They originally lived in the region now called Manchuria and united various tribes to form a powerful empire that challenged the Chinese Song Dynasty. The Jurchen's military strength allowed them to conquer northern China and create a sophisticated society with advancements in art, culture, and governance. Over time, they assimilated into broader Chinese culture, but their legacy remains, especially in the name "Manchu," used by later rulers of China's Qing Dynasty who descended from the Jurchen.
