Jumma people
The Jumma people, also known as the Chakma, are an indigenous ethnic group primarily residing in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of southeastern Bangladesh and parts of India and Myanmar. They have their own distinct languages, culture, and traditions, often practicing Buddhism and animism. Historically marginalized and involved in regional conflicts, they advocate for greater autonomy and recognition of their rights. The Jumma people's identity is strongly tied to their land, language, and religious practices, making them a unique and important part of the diverse cultural mosaic of Bangladesh and neighboring regions.
