Jugurthine War
The Jugurthine War (112–105 BCE) was a conflict between Rome and Jugurtha, a North African king of Numidia. Jugurtha, seeking to increase his power, defied Rome’s influence and engaged in corruption and guerrilla tactics. Rome initially tried diplomacy but soon sent armies to restore order. Roman generals, including Marius and Sulla, eventually defeated Jugurtha through military campaigns. The war exposed political corruption in Rome and helped future leaders rise to power. It was a pivotal event in Rome’s expansion into North Africa and in its internal political dynamics.
