
Juan Martín de Pueyrredón
Juan Martín de Pueyrredón was an important Argentine military leader and politician in the early 19th century. He played a key role in Argentina's fight for independence from Spain, helping to organize the revolutionary army. As Supreme Director of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata (a precursor to Argentina), he oversaw efforts to unify the region and resist foreign threats. His leadership contributed significantly to Argentina’s early nationhood. Pueyrredón also promoted economic development and internal stability during his tenure from 1816 to 1819.
