Juan Diego

Juan Diego was a Mexican indigenous man who lived in the 16th century. He is best known for his deep faith and the miraculous event in 1531, when he reported seeing the Virgin Mary, known as Our Lady of Guadalupe, on Tepeyac Hill. The tilma (cloak) he wore miraculously bore her image, which became a symbol of Mexican identity and faith. Juan Diego was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 2002, recognized for his humility, devotion, and pivotal role in the Marian apparition that holds spiritual and cultural significance for millions.
